For many people, access to justice begins with a clear point of contact – a place where they can ask questions, understand their rights, submit requests, and receive reliable information. During the full-scale war, making that first point of contact accessible and trustworthy matters more than ever.
Ukraine’s international partners, through the Partnership Fund for a Resilient Ukraine (PFRU), support efforts that help justice institutions remain approachable, effective, and trusted – an important part of resilience and social cohesion during the full-scale war.
On 15 April, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office officially opened its new Citizens’ Reception Office, renovated and equipped with support from PFRU. Representatives of PFRU’s financing partners from the United Kingdom and Canada attended the opening, visited the new Office, and engaged in discussion on its role in improving public access to information and communication with the prosecution service.
The Office helps ensure direct communication between citizens and the prosecution service by receiving and registering requests, providing essential information on the status of cases, and making this interaction more straightforward and accessible for visitors. This is particularly important for people seeking support in relation to missing persons, war crimes, and other related issues.
Following PFRU’s support to the Office of the Prosecutor General’s Citizens’ Reception Office in 2024, this assistance was extended to the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office in response to the high demand for such services and positive feedback from both staff and visitors.
PFRU’s support included the full renovation of the new Office, as well as the provision of fully equipped workstations, IT equipment and software, office equipment, and furniture.
Strengthening institutions that help people be heard, informed, and supported remains an important part of strengthening resilience in Ukraine.
