Museum visiting rules

Behaviour during an air raid alert:

In the event of an air raid alert, we ask you to follow the instructions of the museum staff and proceed to the nearest shelter (Ploshcha Ukrainskykh Heroiv metro station). Thank you for your understanding and calm compliance with the instructions – this will help us to quickly ensure your safety.

We are delighted to welcome you to the museum and want every visitor to have an exciting and safe time here. For your comfort and to keep the exhibits safe, please follow these simple rules:

Please refrain from:

  • bringing and consuming food and drinks in the halls – this will help preserve the exhibits and historical interiors; 
  • touching exhibits, frames, stands, labels or glass, unless otherwise indicated by special markings; 
  • using flash and selfie sticks when taking photographs; 
  • blocking passageways, entrance doors or obstructing other visitors; 
  • running, jumping, loud shouting – please respect the peace of others and the integrity of the exhibits. 
  • Entering the halls in outdoor clothing – please leave it in the cloakroom. 
  • Bringing in large bags, backpacks, umbrellas, bicycles, scooters or roller skates – please leave them in the cloakroom. The following are permitted: prams and wheelchairs; 
  • visiting the museum with animals (except for certified service animals); 
  • smoking on the museum premises.

Mobile phones:

Switch your phones to silent mode and use headphones to listen to the audio. 

Photography:

Photography for personal use is permitted without flash and without the use of selfie sticks and tripods. Please take photos carefully, without touching the exhibits or disturbing other visitors. Commercial or professional photography is only possible with the consent of the museum administration. Children:

Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Parents and group leaders are responsible for ensuring that children follow the museum’s rules of conduct. 

Groups:

Book your tour in advance. Recommended group size: up to 20 adults and students, up to 15 schoolchildren.

Educational events:

Only museum staff or certified volunteer guides are allowed to conduct tours and educational classes. To organise joint events, please contact us here: [email protected] 

Sketching: 

Individual sketches in pencil or pen are permitted, provided they do not disturb other visitors.
